  • What you'll learn

    You will learn and practice painting and decorating techniques such as surface
    preparation, paint application, wallcovering application, health & safety considerations
    and effective working techniques. The course will present these subject areas to you in
    the workshop for practical activity and the class room for underpinning knowledge
    development.
  • Entry requirements

    You should have completed the Diploma 1 course or be able to demonstrate that you
    have substantial experience of painting and decorating job knowledge and skills.
  • How will I be assessed?

    You will need to demonstrate competence for 9 units. Some of these units may have
    been assessed during your Diploma 1 experience. Units that you do not have
    accreditation for will be assessed throughout the duration of the course. You will
    complete a single practical synoptic assessment and a series of online end tests for each
    unit. In addition there will be an online job knowledge end test assessment.
  • Is there anything else I need to know?

    You will need to supply basic personal protective equipment, i.e. safety boots or shoes,
    overalls, for use in the workshop. Access to the work shop is not permissible without this
    equipment. You will attend for 10.5 hours per week, normally between the hours of 9am to
    4.00pm.

    On completion of the course you will be able to progress onto the next level of learning,
    the Level 3 Diploma in painting & decorating. Alternatively you will be qualified to a level
    where you can seek employment with confidence.

    You can opt to pay these fees in monthly instalments. You can set this up during the enrolment.

    Assessment


    All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

    Financial

    Adult learners (19+) must provide evidence of their existing qualification at enrolment. Learners may not be able to enrol if this information is not provided when requested. If you have lost any certificates please contact your school in the first instance. If they are unable to provide a copy, you can contact one of the following exam boards (your school will be able to tell you which one applies to the exams you took):
