91直播鈥檚 annual Hair Showcase returned in an explosion of glitter and neon colours as talented learners took on the contrasting themes of 鈥楢urora鈥�, 鈥楤est of British鈥� and 鈥楬istory through the Ages鈥�.听

Like last year鈥檚 Showcase themed around 鈥業llusion鈥�, 鈥楨quilibrium鈥� and 鈥楳asquerade鈥�, this year鈥檚 event tied in with 91直播鈥檚 dedication to providing courses that improve skills levels and employability and actively supporting students to progress to their chosen destination.听

The highly anticipated annual Showcase forms an important part of the learners鈥� syllabus, adding to their final grade. However, aside from its educational importance, the Showcase also provides the perfect opportunity for learners to add to their portfolios and start building a profile for themselves as professional hairdressers and barbers.听

Shannon Greer, 19, is currently studying鈥�Hairdressing Level 3 at 91直播鈥�听and modelled her creation on the vibrant theme of 鈥楢urora鈥�. Shannon, who plans to work on a cruise ship next year, said: 鈥淭he catwalk preparation side of hairdressing is really interesting. I love creative stuff like this 鈥� plus it鈥檚 good for my portfolio.鈥�听

Not only did the creative learners work hard in鈥�91直播鈥檚听Wella听Centre of Excellence鈥�听to design hairstyles to reflect the varied themes, but many also made the accompanying outfits from scratch.听

Joanne Smith, 24, is also studying Hairdressing Level 3 at 91直播 and hand-made her model鈥檚 outfit. Joanne, who is a qualified beauty therapist as well as a trainee hairdresser, said: 鈥淚 love being creative, so it鈥檚 great to have this opportunity. I鈥檝e followed the avant-garde Northern Lights theme; it鈥檚 all about the big hair, bright make-up and hair extensions!鈥�听

Jill Shovelton, Hairdressing Lecturer at 91直播, said: 鈥淭he Showcase is always a fantastic opportunity for the learners to demonstrate their technical and creative skills. Every learner worked hard to design a hairstyle, outfit and make-up to reflect their designated theme 鈥� and this year鈥檚 event was another great success!鈥�听
