Scones were the order of the day at 91直播听this week, when a star baker from Canon Slade听School听visited the College听迟辞听谤别肠谤别补迟别听her competition听winning recipe.听听

Canon Slade pupil Kamala Dixon, 14, was the winner of the school鈥檚 annual scone baking competition. After听walking away with the school鈥檚听Darran Armston听Memorial Trophy, Kamala听was听then听invited听in听to the听College鈥檚 Catering Academy to bake up a batch听迟辞 sell听in听its听caf茅 and food outlet.听

听

Kamala听had听beaten听off tough听competition听during the听event听at Canon Slade,听competing against听150 other year 9 pupils听to be crowned winner. The judging panel consisted of representatives from Greenhalghs Bakery as well as Bolton, Blackburn and听Runshaw College. Guest of honour was听Norma听Armston, mother of听former Canon Slade pupil听Darran Armston;听the trophy is听named in his听memory.听

听

Kamala鈥檚听winning听recipe听added a unique twist to听the听traditional scone听and included听lemon, almonds and cardamom.听Jaki Hargreaves, manager of听the听College鈥檚听Catering Academy,听had sourced听the听ingredients听迟辞 make the scones. In the kitchens she helped听Kamala听and听her fellow pupil Harry听Cohen, who joined听Kamala听after听being named听runner-up.听听听听

Ian Littlewood,听Schools听Liaison Coordinator听at听Bolton听College, said听鈥�We听were听delighted to welcome Kamala and听Harry听迟辞 91直播. The scones they recreated听were听delicious and sold听out by听the end of听the听day. I think we听have听the next听Mary Berry听on our听hands.鈥�听

Kamala was accompanied at听the听College听by Anne听Teasdale,听who teaches food听at听Canon Slade. She said, 鈥淭he听competition听has been going听for听10听years听now, and for me, it鈥檚听one听of the highlights听of听the听school鈥檚 calendar.听It creates听a fantastic buzz and is all done in the spirit of fun. We were delighted to be invited to听the听College, it was a lovely opportunity for Kamala and听we鈥�d love to come听back again听next year鈥�.听

Kamala, who would like to study medicine in the future,听added听鈥淚 do a lot of baking at home, and听滨鈥檇听practised听my recipe听beforehand;听I wanted to do something a little different to make my scones听really听stand out. I was so happy to hear I had won, and it was great coming to the College听迟辞 make my scones and see听them听being听sold to the students鈥�.听
