Students visit Army Reserve Centre

91直播鈥檚 Public Services students got a taste of army life this week, when they听spent the day at Bolton鈥檚听Army Reserve Centre on Nelson Street.

45 students, who are hoping to progress to employment within the public services sector,听participated听in听a variety of activities that focused on building their TLC skills 鈥 Teamwork, Leadership and Communication.听

Corporal Will Owen of the Duke of Lancaster regiment watched over the proceedings听and said,听鈥淭he students seemed to really enjoy the day and they committed whole-heartedly to all of the tasks that we set them. I was very impressed鈥.

Gareth Wild, Public Services Lecturer, accompanied the students and added, 鈥淭hese visits are always a highlight for me. We try to get the students out of College and taking part in events like this as much as possible. The programme听focuses听on practical participation which helps the students pass the听rigorous听selection process of听a number of public service organisations, including the police and fire service鈥.听

The students ended the day with a tour of the centre听and听they听will听shortly听be spending five days on an army residential, learning even more about army life.听
